All tenured and nontenured instructional faculty will receive the COACHE workplace satisfaction survey to complete next week.

Administered every three years, the survey is part of the university’s participation in the Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE) at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Faculty will receive the survey via an email from COACHE.

The results of the survey will be compiled into a report that summarizes UT’s findings and compares them with results from selected peer institutions. COACHE also will compile a report of major findings and trends across its 200-plus participating colleges and universities.

At UT, the results will be used to identify needs and develop initiatives to address them. For instance, results from the last COACHE survey prompted the creation of a task force on mentoring.

John Zomchick, vice provost for faculty affairs, said the results also will be important as the university prepares its next application for an NSF Advance Grant aimed at improving the retention and success of women in STEM fields.

Confidentiality and anonymity are assured in all COACHE analyses and reports. The survey will take less than twenty-five minutes to complete.
