Bryan 1Bryan Hilbert is the new coordinator for UT’s Disability Careers Office. He previously served as a testing and assistive technology coordinator in the Office of Disability Services.

Hilbert, who began his position in late October, assists students and alumni with disabilities by providing career planning and guidance.

“Joining Career Services in this role gives me the opportunity to lead a nationally recognized program focused on helping prepare students to excel in their post college life and career,” he said.

The Disability Careers Office supports students in all phases of career planning, including major selection, internship and employment resources, career counseling, job search strategies, disability disclosure, and workplace accommodations.

“Having a Disability Careers Office allows us to directly impact this population of students on our campus,” said Stephanie Kit, interim director of Career Services. “Many employers see the value of hiring people with disabilities for jobs, and the Disability Careers Office coordinator can help these employers connect with our students.”

The office also helps with annual events including the seventh annual Diversity Job Fair, scheduled for February 10, 2015, in Thompson-Boling Arena. The fair connects students with employers who are committed to diversifying their workforce. The fair is open to all students but is designed for students with disabilities, the LGBT community, and individuals from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds.

The Disability Careers Office is located in Room 221 of Dunford Hall.
