Lawrence Cunningham, a best-selling author of books about Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway Inc., will visit the UT College of Law on Monday, November 3, to discuss his new book, Berkshire Beyond Buffett: The Enduring Value of Values.
Joining Cunningham will be UT Law alumnus Jim Clayton, the founder and former CEO of Clayton Homes Inc., which Berkshire Hathaway acquired in 2003. Clayton established the Clayton Center for Entrepreneurial Law at UT Law.
The event, part of a fifteen-city book tour, will begin at noon in Room 132 at the College of Law. A question-and-answer session and book signing will follow. Admission is free and open to the public, but attendees are asked to RSVP to Sophia Brown, srbrown@utk.edu, before November 3.
Cunningham, whom Buffett chose in 1997 to edit and publish the international best-seller The Essays of Warren Buffett: Lessons for Corporate America, will explain what makes Berkshire Hathaway distinctive and how its special culture is a surprising but integral part of succession planning at the company personified by the famous billionaire.
A law professor at George Washington University and a leading authority on corporate culture and governance, Cunningham has written a dozen books and numerous articles. Other books include How to Think Like Benjamin Graham and Invest Like Warren Buffett and The AIG Story, co-authored by long-time AIG leader Hank Greenberg. Cunningham’s work has appeared in a wide range of publications, including the New York Times and the Columbia Law Review.
