Academic affairs administrators from twenty top universities will gather at the University of Tennessee October 8–10 for a conference focusing on managing change in undergraduate education.
The event was organized by Sally McMillan, vice provost for academic affairs.
“I’ve always wanted to go to a conference built especially for administrators who focus on academic affairs with an emphasis on undergraduate students. I haven’t been able to find such a conference, so I thought we should create one,” McMillan said. “And if you want to focus on positive changes, UT is a leading example.”
Conference participants, who are coming from the Southeastern Conference and other UT peer institutions, will hear a summary of our university’s Top 25 initiative as it relates to undergraduate education. They also will tour the One Stop Express Student Services center and learn how the center was established at UT.
Roundtable discussions will focus on topics such as how to serve high-ability students, low-income students, and transfer students, as well as how to enhance undergraduate research.
Participating schools include Indiana University, Texas A&M University, the University of Missouri, North Carolina State University, the University of Maryland, Auburn University, Iowa State University, the University of Arkansas, the University of Virginia, Mississippi State University, Louisiana State University, the University of South Carolina, Purdue University, the University of Wisconsin–Madison, the University of Kentucky, the University of Mississippi, the University of Minnesota, and Vanderbilt University.
