Brenda V. SmithBrenda V. Smith, a candidate for dean of the College of Law, will lead a public forum from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, in College of Law Classroom 132.

Smith is a law professor at American University Washington College of Law. Before joining the university’s faculty in 1999, she served as practitioner-in-residence for a year. Smith was senior counsel for economic security for the National Women’s Law Center from 1988 to 1998. She was also an attorney with the public defender service of the District of Columbia from 1986 to 1988.

She has a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center and a bachelor’s degree in French and political science from Spelman College.

Each forum will be recorded. Once all candidates have completed their visits, archived video of the presentations will be posted on the Office of the Provost’s website. More information on the candidates and the ability to share anonymous feedback during the search can also be found on the website.
