New Faces in Student Life: Timothy Burkhalter

timburkhalterTimothy Burkhalter recently joined UT as the new director of the Office of Conduct and Community Standards. He previously served as director of student conduct and special projects at Anne Arundel Community College. In his new position, he serves as chief disciplinary officer and directs the operations of the student conduct system. He will advocate for student rights and due process in an educational and student-development-focused environment.

Background: Timothy holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, and a master’s degree in counseling psychology and college student personnel administration from James Madison University.

He has been involved with professional associations, including the Association for Student Conduct Administration and National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.

A few facts about Timothy:

Hometown: I grew up in Rocky Mount, NC, but have lived mostly in the Midwest and Southeast as a professional.

Hobbies: Visiting the beach, mountains, aquariums, and zoos; attending live cultural events, performing arts, music festivals, and sporting events; spending time with my family; golfing; reading.

One interesting fact about you: My first visit to UT was as an undergraduate student from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, attending a leadership conference. Little did I know the significance…or that I would return and work full-time at the UT almost two decades later.

Favorite sports team (other than the Vols, obviously): Pittsburgh Steelers
