The Metro Pulse featured a story about UT and Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Governor’s Chair program for joint research appointments and how it is now “on a roll.” According to the article, the program was established with strong backing from then Governor Phil Bredesen to attract up to twenty top scientists and engineers to the university and the lab for collaborative research. During its first three years, however, the program landed only one recruit. But recruitment successes beginning in 2009 have now filled sixteen of the chairs.
