The Knoxville News Sentinel featured a story on UT’s pilot math camp for incoming freshman which targets students who are interested in math-intensive majors like health science or engineering, but whose high school math credentials are below where they need to be. The camp, conceived by faculty years ago, finally got the green light when it became one of several ideas Chancellor Jimmy Cheek committed to when he visited the White House during a higher education summit there in January.
