College of Engineering professor Lee Han was a guest expert on the use of red light cameras on All Sides with Ann Fisher on Ohio Public Radio.
Han, of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, has become a go-to source for people when debate over the use of the cameras occurs.
The Ohio Supreme Court is hearing arguments on the constitutionality of the cameras today.
Han, explaining that there have been instances where municipalities purposely tinkered with the cameras to increase revenue as opposed to caring about public safety, told the program, “Basically, when some of the traffic engineers were feeling pressure to somehow generate more revenue to pay for the cameras system, they had to do something that can be construed as not ethical.”
