Two UT Human Resources employees helped to generate many little smiles last week through a random act of kindness.

Shannon Bruce, Employee and Organizational Development, and Lindsey Raymer, Compensation, helped out with the Chancellor’s Spring Thank-You Lunch, which hosted 1,300 faculty and staff members last Tuesday.

“Lindsey and I were on a mission to make kids happy and not to throw away all the beautiful balloons used to decorate Thompson-Boling Arena for Chancellor Cheek’s Spring Thank-You Lunch. We mentioned it to a few fellow HR staff who agreed with us,” said Bruce.

The pair contacted the Boys and Girls Club of the Tennessee Valley. UT Transportation Services allowed them to use a cargo van to make the delivery.

Attempting to load several hundred orange and white balloons prompted good laughs among several HR staff members.

“Lindsey and I then delivered all the balloons to the Boys and Girls Club in North Knoxville, smiling and laughing all the way. The children were so excited to see the balloons,” said Bruce.
