The university’s Sick Leave Bank provides members who are experiencing serious illnesses or injuries an opportunity to request additional paid leave from the bank after exhausting all accrued personal leave. The enrollment period opened this week and ends on Monday, June 30.
The Sick Leave Bank is solely for the serious illness or injury of university employee and not for the illnesses or injuries of family members.
Employees wishing to enroll in the bank must be regular full- or part-time employees in the Knoxville area, including the UT Space Institute, the Institute for Public Service, and the Institute of Agriculture. To enroll in the Sick Leave Bank, eligible employees must have a balance of at least forty-reght hours of accrued sick leave—or six days, pro-rated for part-time employees—as of June 30, 2014. New memberships will be processed on July 1, and twenty-four hours of members’ sick leave will be transferred to the Sick Leave Bank.
Employees already enrolled in the Sick Leave Bank do not need to re-enroll.
The enrollment application is available online. Completed applications must be submitted to the Employee Relations Office, 600 Henley Street, 230 Conference Center Building, Knoxville, Tennessee 37996, by June 30.
