faw2014-260x230Today begins UT’s annual celebration of faculty.

It’s the campus’s fifth annual Faculty Appreciation Week, highlighting the impact faculty have on students, the campus community, and society through their teaching, research, and service.

“Our faculty members’ dedication to their students and research makes UT a vibrant place to live, work, and learn,” Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek said. “Provost Susan D. Martin and I want to thank our faculty members for all they do, and we invite all Vols—past and present—to express their gratitude as well.”

Each day this week, Tennessee Today and the Faculty Appreciation Week website will feature stories about some special UT faculty members.

Today looks at the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Architecture.

Faculty, staff, students, alumni, and others are invited to send kudos to their favorite faculty members. Leave a shout out online or share a selfie with your favorite faculty member on UT’s Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook pages with the hashtag #UTFaculty. See what others have shared at utk.edu/shoutout.

The website is also a place to see special discounts being offered for faculty and staff this week at VolShop, UT Dining facilities, and McClung Museum of Natural History and Culture.

Faculty and staff can get discount tickets to tonight’s game pitting the Lady Vols against Vanderbilt. Tip off is at 9:00 p.m. Visit UTTix.com and use promotional code VOLS4UTK for $7 tickets.
