The event will begin at 11:00 a.m. We will dedicate the plaza, at the corner of Lake Loudoun Boulevard and Phillip Fulmer Way, and unveil a bronze statue of Coach Summitt.
This historic day gives us all a special opportunity to thank Coach Summitt for her nearly forty years of service. A lifelong mentor to hundreds of Volunteers, Coach Summitt set the standard for excellence in college athletics and academics. We are proud that she is a member of the Big Orange family and grateful for all she has given to our university.
Just inside our campus’s most traveled entrance, Pat Summitt Plaza will serve as a gateway to welcome visitors to our campus. It also will be a permanent and inspiring reminder of her legacy.
Roadways around the plaza will begin to close at 9:00 a.m. to accommodate the many people we expect to join us for the event. For more traffic information, visit Tennessee Today.
This will be a very special Big Orange Friday for our campus. I look forward to seeing everyone in their orange for this exciting event.
