The Knoxville News Sentinel featured students conducting reach for the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis (NIMBioS) at UT in its article about “cool” internships. Students are developing computer models of the coronavirus, which an estimated 40 percent of house cats have. In most cats the virus is harmless, but in a small percentage of cats, the virus mutates and causes feline infectious peritonitis, which is always fatal.
