Mastrogiovanni is New First-Year Studies Director
Mastrogiovanni will oversee the courses, programs, and staff housed in First-Year Studies. He also will represent First-Year Studies across the university and serve as an advocate for first-year students.
“I am excited to get the First-Year Studies office out and around campus,” he said. “Many hard working people have been carrying the banner for these programs on top of their full work load. As we look toward our Top 25 goals, I am confident that dedicating my full attention to our first-year students will produce positive results here at UT.”
Mastrogiovanni has ten years of professional experience in both academic and student affairs, leadership experience in the creation and implementation of academic policies and curriculum, and a strong record of collaboration across a research university. Before coming to UT, he was the director of student orientation and family programs and the assistant director of undergraduate colleges, which includes first-year curriculum and exploratory advising, at Stony Brook University. Previous to that, he held positions at Central Connecticut State University and the University of Florida.
Mastrogiovanni has a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Florida and a master’s degree in music education from Central Connecticut State University.
