The third of four finalists in the search for the associate provost and director of the Chancellor’s Honors and Haslam Scholars programs will visit campus Monday and lead a forum for the campus community.
Lori Underwood, associate professor and department chair of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Christopher Newport University, will lead a forum from 2:15 to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, January 28, in the Crest Room of the University Center.
She also directs the university’s Cannon Leadership Scholars Program. She’s held this position and also has been head of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies since 2010.
Underwood has been associate professor at Christopher Newport University since 2005. She was assistant professor there from 1999 to 2005.
She holds a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Missouri, and a Master of Arts in philosophy and Bachelor of Arts in history and philosophy from the University of Memphis.

John Zomchick, vice provost for faculty affairs, is chairing the search. The position has been vacant since June, when Steve Dandaneau left to become the vice provost of undergraduate studies at Kansas State University. W. Bruce Wheeler, professor emeritus of history, has been serving as the interim associate provost.
