The Department of Philosophy will host its annual “Tennessee Value and Agency” conference Friday, November 16, through Sunday, November 18.

The conference will study themes from the writings of moral philosophers John Rawls and Immanuel Kant.

Thomas Scanlon of Harvard University and Pamela Hieronymi of the University of California, Los Angeles, are keynote speakers for the conference. Hieronymi will discuss “The Intuitive Problem of Free Will and Moral Responsibility” at 4:45 p.m. Friday, and Scanlon will discuss “Ideas of the Good in Moral and Political Philosophy,” at 4:45 p.m. Saturday. The keynote addresses and the other presentations will take place in McClung Tower Room 1210.
