Accounting Professor to Assist US Treasury with Implementation of JOBS Act
United States Treasury officials have invited accounting professor Joe Carcello to join a conversation tomorrow about how best to implement the Jumpstart Our Business Startups, or JOBS Act.
The JOBS Act encourages the growth of new ventures and supports small businesses. President Barack Obama signed it into law in April.
Carcello will participate in a roundtable discussion from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 1, with senior officials from the Treasury and the National Economic Council. The meeting will be held in the Diplomatic Reception Room at the US Treasury Department.
The conversation will focus on how regulators and the private sector can implement the law in ways to protect investors while encouraging the flow of money to small and growing companies.
Carcello is the only accounting professor invited to participate. Other participants include investors and law professors from universities around the country.
In March, Carcello testified before the Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises Subcommittee of the Financial Services Committee in the US House of Representatives.
