The Knoxville News Sentinel featured recent UT graduate Andy Rogers who has created a musical about type 1 diabetes called “Andy and the Beats.” Armed with biochemistry and molecular biology majors, a theatre minor and personal connection to the disease, Rogers has written the lyrics, is directing the production and collaborating on the music. Rogers, 23, also plays the lead in the show which will be presented at the Bijou Theatre at 7pm June 24. The show is a reprise of the original that debuted at Clarence Brown’s Lab Theatre last year.
