Office of Communications and Marketing Wins Sixteen TCPRA Awards
The Office of Communications and Marketing won sixteen awards, including eight first-place awards, from the Tennessee College Public Relations Association (TCPRA).
TCPRA is an organization of communicators—including public relations, marketing, web, and creative design professionals—who represent colleges and universities, public and private, two-year technical schools, technology centers, and community colleges across Tennessee. This year’s contest drew about 150 entries.
The awards were given out at TCPRA’s spring conference May 17 and 18 at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.
UT received first-place awards for:
Feature/News Story in College or Alumni Magazine: “Your Mileage May Vary“—a story in Quest research magazine that likened aging nuclear reactors to aging automobiles.
Newsletter Electronic: Chancellor’s Newsletter—a bimonthly newsletter that goes to faculty, staff, students, alumni, the Board of Trustees, Chancellor Associates, parents, and others. Read the most recent issue of Notes from the Chancellor here.
College/Alumni Magazine: Quest—a semi-annual publication produced for the Office of Research that highlights research, scholarship, and creative activity.
Web Page/Site: UT Writing Center—the web site that promotes the tutoring program that serves students in all disciplines.
Specialty Item: Faculty Appreciation Week “Like” Clings—easily removable stickers fashioned after the Facebook “like” symbol that students could distribute to their instructors as a way of saying thank you during Faculty Appreciation Week.
College Promotional Video: Switch Your Thinking Video—an original music video featuring Smokey, students, faculty, and staff reminding the campus community to conserve energy and recycle.
Special Event Seven Days or More: Fifty Years of African-American Achievement—the celebration marking fifty years since African-American undergraduates were admitted to UT Knoxville. Read more about the year-long celebration here.
UT also won six second-place awards and two third-place awards.
The second-place awards were for a feature/news story in a college magazine feature story; the 2011 Annual Report of the Chancellor; the “Big Orange. Big Ideas.” branding campaign; the football halftime commercial, Flourish: Astonishing the World, Quietly; a video about civility; and Faculty Appreciation Week.
The university won third-place awards for the College of Law Magazine and the Ready for the World website.
