News Sentinel: UT researchers develop portable disease detection device
Jayne Wu, associate professor of computer science and electrical engineering, and Shigetoshi Eda, associate professor of forestry, wildlife and fisheries at the UT Institute of Agriculture Center for Wildlife Health, were interviewed by the Knoxville News Sentinel about their invention of a disease detection device. The portable device detects pathogens in humans and animals and has the potential to allow people to detect disease in just minutes with just a drop of blood. ”The novelty here is short detection time. Here, it is minutes and, usually, it is a few hours,” said Wu.
