The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and Dong-A University in Busan, South Korea, have signed a memorandum of understanding to work together on student and faculty exchanges, joint research activities, and other programs.

Korean University PartnershipThe agreement was signed Monday by Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek and officials from Dong-A University.

The agreement says the two universities will collaborate on student exchange for research and study; exchange of faculty, staff, and research scholars; joint research activities; and English as a Second Language programs.

Fritz G. Polite, clinical assistant professor in the Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport Studies in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences, said officials from UT and Dong-A University met a couple of years ago and began a relationship that resulted in this partnership. CEHHS Dean Bob Rider visited the Korean university this summer.

The Dong-A University contingent that visited UT for Monday’s memorandum signing included four students, a faculty member and dean of the College of Sport Sciences.
