Denise Gardner has been named the new director of our Office of Institutional Research and Assessment.

By collecting, analyzing, and disseminating essential information about the university, this office’s work has an important impact on everyone at UT. The office provides data that help us plan and make decisions, as well as meet a variety of state and federal government mandates. In addition, the office oversees teaching evaluation through the Student Assessment and Instruction System and coordinates the assessment function of the university.

Denise comes to UT from the University of Georgia, where she has been director of institutional research for five years. She has also worked in similar positions at Georgia Institute of Technology and North Carolina State University. Denise has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina; a master’s degree in industrial-organization psychology from Appalachian State University; and a doctorate in educational research and policy analysis from North Carolina State University.

Please join me in welcoming Denise to our campus community.
