NSF Discoveries: The Nanotechnology of Sundew and English Ivy

The research of Mingjun Zhang, associate professor, and Scott Lenaghan, research assistant professor in mechanical, aerospace and biomedical engineering, is being featured on the webpage of the National Science Foundation. Zhang and Lenaghan are studying the adhesive properties of sundew plants and the nanoparticles in English ivy for innovative medical applications. The article discusses how Zhang looks to plants such as the carnivorous sundew plant for inspiration for items such as a hip replacement or artificial knee.
