Adrian VieritaKNOXVILLE— The Romanian ambassador to the United States is at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, this week to give a public lecture, talk with students, tour the city, and meet with local dignitaries.

At 7:00 p.m. today, Ambassador Adrian Vierita will speak at the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy on security issues of importance to the United States and Romania. A reception will follow. The event is free and open to the public.

On Friday, Vierita will tour Oak Ridge National Laboratory and meet with UT President Joseph DiPietro. The ambassador will have a luncheon discussion with MBA students at the College of Business Administration and then meet with Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett.

On Friday, the ambassador will tour Knoxville and meet with the Romanian community of Knoxville.

Prior to his current appointment, Vierita was the Romanian ambassador to Germany.

Vierita is a career member of the Diplomatic Corps of Romania, having joined the Foreign Service on March 1, 1991.
