UT Business School Gets Top MBA Ranking from Princeton Review

KNOXVILLE—The College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has one of the nation’s best MBA programs, according to the 2012 rankings of The Princeton Review, a top education service and evaluation company.

The college’s full-time MBA program is listed in the 2012 edition of “The Best 294 Business Schools.” The 294 schools included in the book are not ranked in any order. UT’s full-time MBA program also appeared in The Princeton Review‘s 2009, 2010, and 2011 listings.

The 2012 entry praises the seventeen-month full-time MBA as a “well-designed program [that] provides a big-picture perspective on business, teaching students how the entire supply chain is impacted by a single decision made in marketing, logistics, finance, and/or operations.” The UT MBA received special highlights for its cutting-edge classes, smart classrooms, and solid preparation in teamwork and presentation skills.

“Over the past several years, we’ve seen significant strength in the college’s business standing,” said Jan Williams, dean of the College of Business Administration. “Our incoming MBA classes have had the work experience, drive, and motivation to succeed, which have helped them launch their careers in key areas such as supply chain management, entrepreneurship, business analytics, finance, and shopper marketing.”

The rankings are based on surveys of more than 19,000 MBA students at the world’s best business colleges.

UT Knoxville’s MBA program was the first in the nation to implement an integrated core curriculum taught by a cross-functional faculty team. The program has recently introduced or expanded curriculum in the areas of business analytics, supply chain management, shopper marketing, and entrepreneurship and innovation. The program has also doubled scholarship dollars available to incoming MBA graduates and yielded career opportunities for students, with 87 percent of the Class of 2010 being placed within ninety days of graduation.

According to Robert Franek, Princeton Review senior VP-publisher: “We recommend the University of Tennessee to readers of our book and users of our website as one of the best institutions they could attend to earn an MBA. We chose the 294 business schools in this book based on our high opinion of their academic programs and offerings, as well as our review of institutional data we collect from the schools. We also strongly consider the candid opinions of students attending the schools who rate and report on their campus experiences at their schools on our survey for the book.”
