KNOXVILLE—University of Tennessee retail students starting Tuesday, September 20, will promote a variety of shirt styles they’ve designed for Walgreens as part of a competition that gives them real-world experience in developing and marketing new products.

Five teams of students, through the Walgreens Volprentice Challenge, will set up their merchandise displays at partner Knoxville-area stores.

Additionally, all products will be sold at the Cumberland Avenue Walgreens and online at www.walgreenstn.com.

Sales will be tracked through October 18, and the team earning the greatest profit will be named the 2011 Walgreens Volprentice.

These items are only available for a short time—exclusively at Walgreens—just in time for UT’s football season and the upcoming holidays.

This project enhances student learning, and UT’s Department of Retail, Hospitality and Tourism Management will receive a portion of the proceeds to help fund its instructional programs.
