Each year, the Department of University Housing asks faculty and staff members to come and assist on one of the busiest and most important days of the new school year: the arrival of the incoming freshmen class.

On Saturday, August 13, move-in day will set a lasting impression of our campus for students and parents. To make it a great process, university housing needs your help.

Volunteers will stay inside the air-conditioned buildings, welcoming students and their families, providing information, and assisting with front desk operations. Duties will be limited to giving directions to the elevators, checking out carts, scanning ID cards, and answering general questions. You will not be asked to move furniture, lift boxes, or unload cars.

In return for participation, volunteers will receive a t-shirt to wear during move-in, the gratitude of the housing staff, and the chance to interact with our students.

Faculty and staff are needed for two shifts on August 13: 8:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

To sign up to volunteer, click here or e-mail Rita Hensley at rhensley@utk.edu by Friday, August 5. Please include your shirt size.
