World Trade recognized Vitasek and fifty other notables who are transforming the ever-evolving global supply chain through their direct and indirect contributions affecting product design, corporate stewardship, carbon footprinting, renewable energy, technology, and overall supply chain sustainability.

Vitasek is a lead faculty member and researcher at the Center for Executive Education in the UT Knoxville College of Business Administration; she teaches Vested Outsourcing and Performance-Based Logistics.

Vested Outsourcing derives its name from its hallmark collaborative approach through which companies and their service providers have a vested interest in each other’s success, as opposed to the conventional outsourcing model that requires purchasing outsourcing services for a fee. The Vested Outsourcing business model creates the framework for the parties to share expertise, collaboratively manage change, drive innovation, and mitigate risk.

The Vested methodology is based on award-winning research and field work funded by the U.S. Air Force and conducted by the University of Tennessee Center for Executive Education, which was the recipient of the 2011 North American Supply Chain Excellence Academic Advancement Award for its work on performance-based approaches.

According to Vitasek, author of Vested Outsourcing: Five Rules That Will Transform Outsourcing: “After experiencing how well the Vested business model works, companies regard conventional outsourcing and supplier relationships as old-school and outdated. The Vested model is built on a flexible framework and allows the creation of value systems that have the ability to transform every industry and society.”
