UT Police Department Offers Tips for Staying Safe During Finals

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is approaching the end of the 2011 spring semester. This is a time of increased hours of studying and preparing final projects. The UT Police Department would like to remind everyone to take an active role in keeping their personal items safe. Statistically, April is one of the highest property crime months of the year. With everyone’s help, these kinds of crime can be reduced.

The most prevalent crime on campus is theft of unsecured property. In most cases, these are crimes of opportunity. Never leave your personal belongings unattended, even if only for a short time. By being aware of your surroundings and keeping your valuables in sight, you lessen the risk of being a victim of crime.
