Announcing the 2011-12 Women’s Leadership Class

The Office of the Provost recently announced the second class of the Women’s Leadership Program at UT Knoxville. This one-year program combines reading material with guest speakers and group discussions designed to help participants understand what leadership is and build self-awareness and strengthen leadership capabilities.

The women selected for the program will become familiar with the overall structure and function of higher education administration and will learn skills and tactics to help them survive and flourish in leadership positions. The goal of the Women’s Leadership Program is to increase the number of women in leadership positions on campus.

The following individuals have been selected to the 2011-12 class:

Misty Anderson, associate professor in the Department of English;

Jennifer Beals, associate professor in the UT Libraries;

Wanda Costen, assistant professor in the Department of Retail, Hospitality and Tourism;

Catherine Luther, associate professor in the School of Journalism and Electronic Media and associate dean of the College of Communication and Information;

Katrice Morgan, assistant dean of the College of Law;

Taimi Olsen, assistant director of the Tennessee Teaching and Learning Center;

Rebecca Prosser, associate professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology;

Cyndi Sweet, assistant director of Undergraduate Admissions;

Gena Wilson, director of the Office of Budget and Finance.

The 2010-11 class, which is in the final stages of the program’s activities, includes:

Suzie Allard, associate professor in the School of Information Sciences;

Susan Hamilton, associate professor in the Department of Plant Sciences and director of the UT Gardens;

Veerle Keppens, associate professor and associate department head in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering;

Katy Locke, assistant director of the Aquatics Center;

Diane Mollenkopf, associate professor in the Department of Marketing and Logistics;

Joann Hartman Ng, assistant director of the Center for International Education;

Angela Smith, associate dean of students;

Teresa Walker, associate professor in the UT Libraries;

Deborah Welsh, professor in the Department of Psychology.
