The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy released the 2009 CPA examination passage rates for all universities across the United States.

UT Knoxville students with a Master of Accountancy degree taking the CPA exam for the first time earned the 11th highest passage rate among all public and private universities nationwide.

UT Knoxville undergraduates who have not yet earned their advanced degrees scored the 20th highest passage rate among all public and private universities nationwide.

UT Knoxville is one of only 11 public or private universities nationwide that claimed a top-20 passage rate among students with and without advanced degrees.

“I am proud of both our students and faculty,” said Daniel Murphy, Deloitte & Touche Professor and head of the Department of Accounting and Information Management. “Our faculty has designed and effectively delivered a curriculum that challenges and prepares students for entrance into the profession. Our curriculum is intended to be highly comprehensive and is well aligned with the extensive content of the CPA exam. The student’’ success on the exam is a product of their hard work and motivation to excel.”
