KNOXVILLE — Have you ever wanted to learn more about dinosaurs, earthquakes and rocks in space? The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Office of Alumni Affairs offers you the chance to hear from UT experts on Friday, Sept. 17.
The Alumni College program showcases faculty members from UT departments speaking on a specific theme. This program features the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences and will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the University Center Crest Room on UT’s campus.
The presenters for this session are
- Larry McKay, Jones Professor of Hydrogeology, presenting “Germs and Geology.”
- Colin D. Sumrall, research faculty and lecturer in paleobiology, presenting “Why Reports of the Great Dinosaur Extinction are Greatly Exaggerated.”
- Joshua P. Emery, research faculty in planetary science, presenting “Rocks in Space.”
- Bob Hatcher, professor in structural geology and tectonics, presenting “Earthquakes in the Eastern US: Does East Tennessee Have an Earthquake Hazard?”
The program is part of the Office of Alumni Affairs Lifelong Learning Program. The program is open to all UT alumni and friends and the $40 registration includes coffee, lunch and parking.
