UT Center to Host Food Safety Conference June 29

 

KNOXVILLE — The Center for Agriculture and Food Security and Preparedness is pleased to host a pilot delivery of a Department of Homeland Security/FEMA course entitled “Effective Sharing of Information and Intelligence Related to the Importation and Transportation of Food,” Tuesday, June 29, at the University of Tennessee Conference Center, 600 Henley St.

The one-day course will equip participants with the skills necessary to utilize surveillance, tracking and intelligence systems related to the food supply chain.  At the end of the course, the participant will be able to effectively identify, share, and disseminate intelligence and information related to food imports and transportation of food.

The target audience for this course are those with a stake in food safety and defense, including:  law enforcement, state fusion center personnel, emergency managers and responder, extension, public health, food and agriculture industry and security professionals, transportation industry, and federal, state, local, tribal, and regional officials.

Registration is from 7:30 to 8 a.m. on June 29 and the course is from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.  There is no cost to take the course and lunch is included.  There will be a $5 charge to park in the Locust Street Garage.
