The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, joins more than 200 sites around the globe to celebrate Open Access Week, October 19-23. Research institutes, colleges, universities and advocacy organizations will host events or wear buttons to express their support for free, immediate, online access to the results of scholarly research.

UT students have created short videos to illustrate the value of information sharing. View the videos at the Sparky Video Contest screening on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Hodges Library Auditorium, and participate in the People’s Choice award for the video receiving the most votes from the audience.

Open Access is the principle that all research should be freely accessible online, immediately after publication, and it’s gaining ever more momentum around the world as research funders and policy makers throw their weight behind it.
