KNOXVILLE — Dancers from the renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will make their mark on the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, campus on Monday, Oct. 12, with the Ailey II Experience.

The performance takes place at 7 p.m. at the Clarence Brown Theatre. Tickets are available through UT’s Central Ticket Office at (865) 974-3381 or online at http://universitycenter.utk.edu/cto. The event is free to UT students with a valid student ID. Tickets for UT faculty and staff are $10 with a UT ID. General admission tickets are $15. Parking is available in the University Center garage for $1 per half hour.

The Ailey II Experience is known for merging the energy of the country’s best young dance talent with the creativity of emerging choreographers.

The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater was founded in 1959. Alvin Ailey, the dance company’s founder, was a choreographer and activist who is credited with popularizing modern dance and revolutionizing African-American participation in 20th-century concert dance.

Ailey II is only one component of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and has become one of the most popular dance companies in the country.
