George Kabalka is an expert in synthetic organic chemistry and radiopharmaceutical design. He has many years experience in the design of reagents for use in positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). His research is focused on molecular design especially as it relates to isotope incorporation. Kabalka is an Alumni Distinguished Service Professor and the Robert H. Cole Professor of Neuroscience. He is Professor of Chemistry on the Knoxville Campus and Professor of Radiology on the Memphis campus. He serves as Director of Research in Radiology. Kabalka was presented with the Southern Chemist Award and is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
