KNOXVILLE — Volunteers volunteer. That’s the idea behind the Volunteer and Service Corps Fair this week at University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Recruiters from more than 40 organizations will be on hand to meet students and discuss volunteer and service opportunities.

The fair, sponsored by UT Career Services and TeamVOLS, is open to all students, faculty and staff and takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the University Center Ballroom this Thursday, Sept. 17.

A variety of on- and off-campus groups will be represented, including the American Red Cross, Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee, Teach for America and the Peace Corps. TeamVOLS also will be represented, with information on their alternative spring break trips, animal outreach, literacy programs and more.

“Volunteer work and service employment are excellent venues for gaining hands-on experience in a variety of areas,” said Russ Coughenour, director of Career Services. “Many organizations offer educational awards, benefits and stipends for students. It’s a great way to build up a résumé.”

A complete list of organizations attending the fair is available at https://utk-csm.symplicity.com/events/students.php?cf=2009service.
