KNOXVILLE – You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. You’ll learn some really interesting things about some of the students and employees on the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, campus.

Twenty videos have been chosen as finalists in the “What’s Your Story?” video competition, and the public can now view and rate those videos at http://www.utk.edu/readyfortheworld/story/.

“What’s Your Story?” is part of Ready for the World, the campus’ international and intercultural initiative. The goal of “What’s Your Story?” is to celebrate the diversity of UT Knoxville’s faculty, staff and students by collecting as many of their stories as possible.

“We collected 171 videos, so it was difficult for the judges to come up with the top 20,” Vice Provost Sarah Gardial said. “The finalists’ videos represent a wide variety of stories. Some are funny snippets from people’s lives. Others are very personal and heartfelt stories. All of them illustrate that everyone has a story to share.”

The “What’s Your Story?” Web site has been designed to allow easy sharing of the videos via links to Facebook, MySpace, Digg, Del.icio.us, Google, Furl and StumbleUpon. Links to the videos can be easily e-mailed from the Web site, too.

Public rating of the videos will continue only through Thursday, March 5. The winner and two runners-up will be chosen through a combination of public ratings and judges’ comments. The winners will be announced March 6.

The winner will receive $200 on a pre-loaded credit card; the runners-up will receive cards worth $100 each. A short video story about “What’s Your Story?” – including excerpts from some or all of the winners’ videos – will be shown at the March 8 men’s basketball game.
