Kamenetz will speak at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 3, in the University Center Auditorium. Kamenetz will take audience questions and a book signing will follow. Sponsored by the Central Program Council’s Issues Committee, the event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the University Center garage.

Kamenetz is a young personal finance expert who has reached millions both with her book, “Generation Debt: The New Economics of Being Young” (Riverhead Books, 2006), and through her column, “Generation Debt” for Yahoo! Finance. Kamenetz writes about the startling range of economic upheavals facing young people in their 20s and 30s: the rising cost of higher education, soaring student loan and credit card debt, an increasingly uncertain job market, health care costs and retirement worries.

In 2004, Kamenetz was nominated by the “Village Voice” for a Pulitzer Prize in feature writing for her Generation Debt series. Her writing has been featured in “New York Magazine,” The New York Times, The Washington Post, Salon.com, “The Forward” and Vegetarian Times.

As a staff writer for “Fast Company” magazine, Kamenetz covers the future of business including sustainability and social entrepreneurship. She also appears on major news networks, including CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, CNBC, CSPAN and NPR.
