A large portion of Phillip Fulmer Way closed today to accommodate the next phase of renovations to Neyland Stadium. The construction involves the west side of the stadium and will be completed in August 2009.

Phillip Fulmer Way will be completely closed from the Hearing & Speech Center to just before the KAT Bus Transfer Station. Access to the transfer station will not be affected. The closure also includes the east end of Peyton Manning Pass and the intersection at Peyton Manning Pass and Phillip Fulmer Way.

Beginning today, the west end of Peyton Manning Pass will serve two-way traffic to accommodate motorists parking at the north end of Staff Lot 30, adjacent to the Hearing & Speech Center.

Peyton Manning Pass also will serve the south entrance/exit of Staff Lot 9. Faculty and staff who park in Staff Lot 9 and exit from the south will need to leave campus by way of Peyton Manning Pass and Volunteer Boulevard beginning today.

Commuter students who use the G-10 garage will not be able to travel north on Phillip Fulmer Way to enter or exit the garage. Students using the G-10 garage are encouraged to use the entrance and exits from Neyland Drive to avoid anticipated heavier traffic on the portion of Phillip Fulmer Way that will remain open in front of Thompson Boling Arena.

Pedestrians who normally travel north or south on Phillip Fulmer Way will be diverted to Circle Park Drive, Volunteer Boulevard or the alley parallel to Staff Lot 9 – known as Margaret’s Alley.

Stairs are being expanded at the northern entrance to Staff Lot 30 (from Phillip Fulmer Way) behind the Communications & University Extension Building to accommodate people walking north. Pedestrians may use the stairs to reach Circle Park Drive and Volunteer Boulevard.

Three of the “T” bus routes and one main KAT route to campus also will change. The “T” North-South route will be modified the most by no longer serving the G-10 garage. For specific route changes, effective Dec. 1, visit http://www.ridethet.com/ or call 974-4080.
