Interim Chancellor Jan Simek and the Commission for Women want to sponsor an outstanding woman to attend the 2009 Summer Institute at Bryn Mawr College.

Women faculty members or administrators who have a proven record of professional growth and responsibility, and who have a keen interest in campus administration and the challenges of growing a university rich in international and intercultural diversity, are encouraged to apply.

The Summer Institute has earned a sterling reputation for expanding horizons, providing exposure to new and exciting ideas, fostering enduring mentoring relationships, and preparing women for institutional leadership roles. Previous UT participants include: Dr. Maxine Thompson Davis, Dean of Students; Dr. Sarah Gardial, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs; Dr. Carolyn Hodges, Vice Provost and Dean of the Graduate School; and Dr. Dixie Thompson, Professor and Department Head of Exercise, Sport, and Leisure Studies.

The campus selection process will require that each applicant submit three items: a current resume; a letter describing the applicant’s reasons for application and how she will contribute to our continued international and intercultural initiatives; and a letter of support from her dean, director, department head or supervisor.

Send these items by Friday, February 6, 2009, to:

Pamela F. Hindle, Chairperson, Commission for Women

Campus 37996-0230
