It’s that time of year when everyone likes to get outdoors and enjoy fall’s magnificent colors. But just which tree is which?
The University of Tennessee Arboretum has posted a guide to the area’s trees by leaf shape and color. Check out http://forestry.tennessee.edu/fallguide.htm.
The really curious can also learn about the chemistry, physics and geometry that combine to produce nature’s yearly colorful display.
The Arboretum is a project of the UT Forestry AgResearch and Education Center in Oak Ridge. The facility includes some 250 acres and more than 7 miles of walking trails, and major plant collections.
Admission is free and the Arboretum is open daily.
