KNOXVILLE — Tennessee Supreme Court Chief Justice appointee Janice M. Holder will speak at UT Knoxville on Sept. 3.

Justice Holder, a member of the court since 1996, will be sworn in as chief justice on Sept. 2, making her Tennessee’s first female chief justice. Before being appointed to the court, she served as a circuit court judge for the Thirtieth Judicial District, Shelby County, Tenn.

The event — which is free and open to the public — will begin at 12:10 p.m. in Room 132 of the College of Law. Her visit is being sponsored by the college’s Center for Advocacy and Dispute Resolution.
