Geier Honored for Public Administration Work
Rita Sanders Geier, associate to Chancellor Crabtree and Senior Fellow at the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy, has been named a 2007 Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration.
Geier, whose federal public administration experience includes the Social Security Administration, the Department of Justice and the Appalachian Regional Commission, was elected to the academy based on her "sustained exemplary contributions and continuing active commitment to improving public administration in the United States," according to an academy publication.
Geier leads the university’s intercultural efforts and implements goals of the university’s diversity plan and Ready For The World initiative. She also is involved in a number of activities at the Baker Center on topics such as civil rights and health care disparities, and developing future programs for underserved communities in the region.
