KNOXVILLE — At approximately 8:35 a.m. Wednesday, a fire started in the chiller unit behind the Claxton Complex on the UT campus, located at the corner of Volunteer Boulevard and Andy Holt Drive.

There were no injuries, and the fire was isolated within the chiller, which is a stand-alone unit outside the Claxton Complex.

No evacuation was required in any classroom or office buildings. Classes continued without interruption.

The Knoxville Fire Department was at the scene within 90 seconds, and the fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes, according to Capt. Brent Seymour, community relations officer for the Knoxville Fire Department. UT Police and Knoxville Police also responded to the scene.

At this time, the cause of the fire and estimated cost of repairs are unknown.
