KNOXVILLE — In 2006, UT RecSports has been recognized for three awards.
In December 2006, the Intramural Field renovation received the Distinguished Turf Facility Award in recognition of excellence in design and construction by the American Sports Builders Association, Field Division.
The project was completed in September 2005 and submitted for consideration in 2006.
Baseline Sports Construction provided a plaque and a story and picture in their January 2007 newsletter.
Will Ferguson of Baseline Sports Construction said that the multi-use aspect, drainage and safety impressed the award committee.
On Feb. 17, 2007, the East Tennessee Climbers Coalition presented the UT Outdoor Program with the 2006 ADOPT-A-CRAG Conservation Award. The program has participated in several clean-up days, Adopt-A-Crag Day and climbing events during an October 2006 fundraising festival.
UT RecSports was recognized in the Fitness Rewards Newsletter for winning a photo contest for the display and distribution of Phisoderm products. The department received a $20 Foot Locker giftcard for a student drawing later in the semester.
