KNOXVILLE — Entrepreneurs, businesspeople and civic leaders are invited to Tennessee’s Innovation Imperative, a conference about innovation and entrepreneurship on March 1 at the University of Tennessee.

Sponsored by UT’s College of Business Administration and its full-time MBA program, the conference will be held from 1-5 p.m. in the University Center auditorium.

Speakers from Tech 2020, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, UT Research Foundation and the state Department of Economic Development will lay the ground work for furthering innovation and entrepreneurship in Tennessee.

The schedule is:

• 1-2 p.m. — Matthew Kisber, commissioner, Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development
• 2-3 p.m. — Alex Fischer, director of technology transfer and economic development, UT-Battelle at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory
• 3:15-4 p.m. — Fred Tompkins, president, UT Research Foundation
• 4-5 p.m. — Tom Rogers, president and CEO, Tech 2020

There is no cost to attend.
