KNOXVILLE — Before the band plays its first familiar notes of Rocky Top this Saturday, UT’s student saxophone quartet, FOUR-T-TUDE, will perform for the football crowd. The group will kick-off UT’s College of Arts and Sciences Pre-Game Faculty Showcase at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, in the University Center ballroom on UT’s campus.

Now in its 16th year, the faculty showcases provide a venue for UT faculty members to share their expertise and research with fans who come to campus for football games.

“A wonderfully diverse crowd visits our campus for football games each season. While the sport brings them out, the presentations are a way for fans to experience another part of our campus and to meet and interact with some of our outstanding faculty,” said Lynn Champion, director of outreach for the College of Arts & Sciences and coordinator of the showcases.

Each week before a home game, faculty members provide a short, but entertaining and informative presentation about their area of expertise and then take questions about topics that range from growing national trends to little known, but intriguing facts. All showcases are 45 minutes and are held two hours before kickoff in the UC ballroom. They showcases are free and open to the public.

The Pre-Game Faculty Showcase is sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences with the support of the UT National Alumni Association and UT Men’s Athletics.
