KNOXVILLE –- As temperatures hover near three-digits, people who work outdoors face heat-related hazards and the University of Tennessee is providing information to help them safeguard their health.
The UT Center for Industrial Services (CIS) is offering a free online course titled “Working Outdoors in Warm Weather Climates.”
“The current heat wave is taking its toll nationwide. We wanted to do something to help Tennessee workers protect themselves. At the same time, we want to provide employers with means to educate their employees of hot weather hazards,” says Bill Stetar, human performance technology program leader at UT CIS.
The noncredit course takes less than 30 minutes to complete and addresses the summer hazards of sun, heat, tick-borne diseases, West Nile virus and poisonous plants. Engaging and informative, this course will be of interest and great value to many organizations and their employees this summer.
The online course, developed by FirstNet Learning, is offered for free for the rest of the summer. To register for the course, go to: http://www.vital-online.com/utcis/utpromo/. Registered users then access the course via “Course Menu” option on the left side of the screen.
